2022 Travel Trends
We love to see it - after going through major changes over the last few years, travel is back - and we think it will keep getting better and better (if you consider the mess there’s been at airports, we’re pretty sure the only way is up, pardon the flight pun. Here are some travel trends that have been making a comeback in 2022.
Family Holidays
After two years of travel chaos that made planning weddings, engagements, anniversaries rather subdued, family travel is making a comeback. Many families will be reuniting after long breaks of actual facetime (not that there’s anything wrong with the app!). About two-thirds of consumers say they are planning to travel more with family in 2022 than 2021, for better of for worse!
“GOAT” - the Greatest Of All Trips
If the pandemic showed us anything at all, it’s that from one day to the next, you won’t be able to travel. Expedia is calling 2022 the year of the GOAT, or the “greatest of all trips.” In a survey of 12,000 travelers in 12 countries, the company found that 65% of respondents are planning to “go big” on their next trip, according to a company representative. Bora Bora anyone?
IMPACT tourism
From Volunteering (Voluntourism even) to ensuring your hotel is carbon neutral, this sector is growing at a rapid pace and is on track to be worth USD 333 billion by 2027. At shoopit, we’re all about travel - we love it - if we can do it while sustaining some of the most beautiful places on earth and their populations, all the better!
Self-care for all!
“Go on, live a little” is one of those expressions we like a lot. Wellness travel is all about that. Get that facemask, mud bath, Swedish massage and pedicure. Go on, treat yourself! With wellness tourism expected to reach USD 817 billion this year and USD 1.3 Trillion (!) in 2025, it looks like we don’t need much encouragement to relax.
